What is the California Boater Card?

The California Boater Card is a state-issued credential required to legally operate motorized vessels in California. It is issued by the California Division of Boating and Waterways and must be carried on board whenever operating a motorized boat. The card is valid for life.

All volunteers who operate our motorized vessels are required to obtain this card. It ensures everyone on the water is trained and certified to the same standard.
